Chronic Pain Treatment

World-Class Pain Medication Addiction Treatment

World-Class Pain Medication
Addiction Treatment

It’s not a lack of willpower; chronic pain is cruel and traumatic.  We understand – that with no intention – chronic pain sufferers can lose control of their prescribed medications.  Chronic pain medication addiction occurs frequently.  In particular, opioid addiction with pain medications is most common.  Unfortunately, maintaining a pain medication addiction can lead to still more troubling actions and consequences.  The best of intentions and willpower is rarely sufficient to correct these medication addictions.

We’re here to help you with your chronic pain, suffering and addiction.  We staff clinical and medical professionals who understand the origin of your suffering.  We also staff world-class medication addiction experts.  We employ real-world, effective treatment solutions.

We offer world-class addiction treatment specialists along with private and luxurious accommodations.  Our premier California residential properties are located in Malibu’s most prestigious beach-front community.  The Pacific Ocean is a beautiful place to relax and begin your recovery.

You’re safe here.  Our commitment to privacy is unwavering.  In the spirit of compassion, professional ethics, and in accordance with HIPAA privacy protections, your recovery is the business of only those you personally choose to inform.

Program Features

At the time of admission, each client is given a thorough medical examination to identify any medical conditions or other health risks in addition to their addiction and/or co-occurring mental health issues.

Our admissions team compiles each client’s medical and prior mental health treatment histories for review by our team.  Blood and urine samples are drawn to provide indicators of current bodily functioning and to determine the exact levels of all substances currently in the client’s system.  The client’s detox and stabilization processes are overseen by one of our internists who specialize in addiction medicine.

Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation (CDE)

Once your review is complete, the Diagnostic Evaluation process walks you comfortably, and privately, through an in-depth process of figuring out exactly what is wrong, and what is right, with your body, mind, and spirit.

The goal is to collect sufficient data to compile and support accurate diagnosis and create a workable plan for an improved life, whatever that may entail. Your evaluation team is comprised of experienced, expert medical, health, wellness, and lifestyle professionals.

Your Diagnostic Evaluation could include:

Your program will establish whether any condition – mental, physical, or emotional – exists and requires a treatment plan, and will identify longer-term issues that need to be considered in follow-up care.

Your Comprehensive Plan

Development of Your Comprehensive Plan

Your multidisciplinary team uses the Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation to recommend an individualized treatment plan, incorporating effective medical, psychiatric, and therapeutic strategies appropriate for you.  This comprehensive approach to evaluation ensures that your future health and wellness needs are matched with the appropriate treatment modalities and the appropriate level of care.

Customized Chronic Pain Treatment Plans

Development of effective treatment plans for chronic pain requires the skillful integration of all the components required to improve the client’s quality of life on two tracks:

  1. Minimization and/or Elimination of the client’s source(s) physical pain
  2. Management of the client’s chemical dependency or addiction

To address the minimization and/or elimination the source(s) of physical pain we utilize:

    • Physical Therapy
    • Chiropractic Care
    • Medication Management
    • Psychological Counseling
    • Alternative Therapies (Massage / Acupuncture)
    • Medical Specialist Referrals

We employ a psychodynamic approach to providing care.  Though group therapy sessions are an important component of our Pain Program, given the underlying trauma most clients have experienced prior to treatment, we place a greater emphasis on individual therapy.  Individuals sessions provide the privacy and intimacy that often make is easier for clients to share with their therapist and make progress in treatment.  Pain clients see their individual therapists (primary, family or specialty therapists) and their case managers multiple times each week.  Licensed therapists are at the facility seven days a week do deal with any client issues as they arise.   Efficient scheduling allows clients to go to a private health club daily, to do therapy sessions outdoors or on the beach and for clients to attend to their personal grooming preferences and shopping needs.

We utilize evidence-based treatment modalities that include:
  • Family Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Executive Coaching
  • Art / Music Therapy
  • Experiential Components
    • Surf / Water Therapies
    • Art & Music Therapy
    • Nutritional Counseling

Dietary Wellness Program

Our team of professional chefs serve gourmet and globally inspired meals daily. Our passion at Beach House is to address your wellness and recovery journey through every aspect of your treatment experience, including the food we offer to our residents. Our Dietary Wellness Program is focused on brain health and is designed to help heal and rejuvenate both the body and the brain during the detoxification and early recovery phase. At Beach House we focus on incorporating essential micronutrients, vitamin-rich foods, and the highest quality, locally sourced ingredients. We are committed to removing the toxic GMO ingredients found in the standard, American diet (wheat, corn, soy, etc.), while implementing a low-glycemic and healthy fat diet for increased brain health.

Our Dietary Wellness Program enhances recovery by focusing on brain health. Our menus are curated to provide an increase in Omega 3s by including fresh seafood, grass fed meat, and creatively incorporating nuts, seeds, and other Omega 3 rich foods. By increasing the intake of Omega 3s, we greatly reduce the inflammatory Omega 6 fat sources which have been shown to block the uptake of healthy Omega 3s. At Beach House we have chosen not to use soybean, vegetable, canola, and corn oils and instead incorporate the use of avocado, olive, and coconut oil in our cooking. In addition to balancing this Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio, our talented chefs work with a wide array of seasonal produce, serving unique vegetable dishes and fresh, beautiful salad options at every meal. This ensures that our diet provides an abundance of naturally sourced vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients that are so crucial in the healing of our brains and bodies.

At Beach House we invite our residents to have a different relationship with the food they eat; through cooking classes with our chefs, to addressing individualized dietary needs, to nutrition consultations with Registered Dietitian. This way of eating and nurturing a healthy relationship with food is not only pleasurable for our residents but, has been clinically proven to restore balance in the body, decrease post-acute withdraws, and alleviate cravings. We work from a model which acknowledges the power of the food we eat in promoting internal healing, lowering stress, reducing depression and anxiety, and increasing joy.
